Boldmere trip kicks off City's league campaign

Worcester Editorial 25th Jul, 2018   0

WORCESTER City begin their second stint in the Midland League Premier Division with a trip to Boldmere St Michaels.

John Snape and Ashley Vincent’s Blue and Whites kick-off the new campaign against the Sutton Coldfield-based side on Saturday, August 4.

The two sides played out a seven-goal thriller in the FA Vase last season with City prevailing 4-3.

Two days later City make the trip to last season’s Northern Premier Division One South basement boys Romulus who now play in Castle Vale after ending their ground-share deal with Sutton Coldfield Town.

The first home game of the new league campaign comes on Wednesday, August 15 when Quorn come to the Victoria Ground before playing host to Coventry Sphinx three days later.

A trip to Coventry Sphinx on Tuesday, August 21 comes next before City complete the opening month with a home game against county rivals Stourport Swifts.

A bumper crowd is expected to pack the Victoria Ground when Ilkeston Town visit the Victoria Ground on Saturday, October 20 with the return trip to Derbyshire scheduled for Saturday, January.

Boxing Day brings an away trip to Stourport and start 2019 with a home clash against big-spending Walsall Wood on Saturday, January 12.

The Blue and White end their campaign on Saturday, April 27 against much-fancied Highgate United who are now managed by former Bromsgrove Sporting boss Paul Smith.
