HOOKER Agustin Creevy will leave Worcester Warriors in the summer after agreeing to join Argentina’s new Super Rugby franchise.
The 30-year-old, who captained his country during last year’s Rugby Championship, has become the first player based outside Argentina to sign up to the new side.
As we revealed in February, Creevy said he had just 15 days to make up his mind whether or not to extend his stay at Sixways where he had become a popular figure.
But the lure of a return to his home country proved too much for the talented front rower who will be looking to cement his place in the national side ahead of the Rugby World Cup.
The news of his departure will be a blow to director of rugby Dean Ryan as Creevy has been a key figure in his side since joining from Top 14 outfit Montpellier in 2013.
However, speaking on Twitter on Monday, Creevy, who has made ten appearances for the club this season, told his followers he was determined to finish his time at Warriors on a high.
“Thank for you for the good wishes,” he said. “It’s been an honour to play at Worcester Warriors (WW). I’ve a clear goal yet at WW: Premiership.”
