Biggs: It's great to be back

WARRIORS winger Tom Biggs has admitted his frustration at missing nine consecutive games for the club due to injury.

The experienced former Leeds Carnegie, Newcastle Falcons and Bath player, who bagged 14 tries in 24 appearances for Warriors last season, torn his ankle ligaments during the match against Wasps in January and had to undergo intensive rehab to regain full fitness.

Biggs recently returned to action against Harlequins, where he enjoyed the full 80 minutes.

“Personally, I’ve been disappointed to miss a large block of games due to injury, but I’ve had great support from everyone behind the scenes to get me back to full fitness,” said the 31-year-old.

“I thought my performance against Harlequins went well. I enjoyed being back out there with the lads and more importantly being able to help the team claim an important win.

“As a club, we’re on a real high at the moment after having a good run of results. With the poor run of form put behind us, we’re looking forward to a positive end to the campaign.

“We have a tough run-in with top clubs at the end of the season, but I think we can challenge them if we play the way we have been recently,” he added.

The high-flying winger was recently announced as the Player Ambassador of Warriors’ new #LeadTheWay campaign, which hopes to tackle the issues faced by people who have lost the ability to socially interact.

The year-long scheme will be raising funds to sponsor a guide dog from birth until it’s matched with a visually impaired person living in the city.

“I’m delighted to be part of this project and will do all I can to support getting a Warriors guide dog as part of the overarching campaign to help and support those who live in isolation.

“We need to raise £5,000 to select a puppy and name it, so we’re asking our Warriors family to help us in achieving this goal,” he added.
