Argentinian quartet boosts Warriors

LATIN fever appears to have struck Sixways as Worcester Warriors hope their Argentinian quartet can beef up their chances of staving off relegation.

Agustin Creevy, Mariano Galarza, Leonardo Senatore and Ignacio Mieres were unveiled together this week after a delayed start to their link up at Warriors.

Fly half Mieres, 26, has already made six appearances for the club since his summer move from Exeter Chiefs, while back row Senatore, 29, has been waiting for his biting ban to come to an end ahead of Worcester’s home clash against Bath on Friday, November 1.

And now, director of rugby Dean Ryan finds himself with four Argentinians in his squad after lock Galarza, 26, who came on as a replacement against Oyonnax last Saturday, and hooker Creevy, 28, joined up with their new teammates last week after featuring in the Rugby Championship.

The Pumas duo, who could both feature against Sale Sharks at Sixways tomorrow (Saturday), said they were delighted to finally arrive at Worcester and were now keen to make their mark in the Aviva Premiership, which gets back up and running next week.

“I am very happy to be here,” Galarza said. “It is a great club and Worcester is a really nice city. I came here with the Pumas in 2011 so I knew the place before I joined.

“I would like to play as many minutes as I can and I think we can bring a lot to the team. I want us to get as high as we can in the league.

“I really enjoyed my first match in France last weekend but now I’m looking forward to playing my first game at Sixways in front of the fans.”

Creevy added: “I’m delighted to finally be here as I’ve been waiting for months to join up with the team. The club is amazing and the players and the staff are great.

“I am excited to get out there and play my first match for Warriors and I hope we can add something and help the team to win games.”
