SIX WICKETS from Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal kept up Worcestershire’s chase of promotion in the County Championship following a huge 234-run win over Leicestershire.

Worcestershire kept on the heels of top-of-the-table Hampshire after getting the ten wickets needed on the final day at Grace Road to complete victory.

Set a huge target of 404, the hosts were bowled out for 169 as Ajmal ended with 6-19 blowing away Leicestershire’s batting order in quick fashion as they lost their last five wickets for just 11 runs.

Earlier in the day pace bowlers Jack Shantry and Charles Morris struck with Joe Leach getting the county a fourth wicket before the Lunch interval.

Worcestershire remain unbeaten in the longer form of the game sitting second in LVCC Division Two 41 points clear of third place Surrey. A top two place secures promotion into the first division.

Worcestershire return to action on Friday when they host Midlands rivals Birmingham Bears in the T20 Blast. Worcestershire will be seeking their sixth straight win in the competition.
