A WORCESTER father and daughter have qualified for the national final of the American Golf Family Championship after victory in a tightly-fought regional qualifying event.
Christopher and Kerry Hobbs triumphed over nine holes at Heythrop Park Golf Club and they will now take to the fairways at the iconic Ryder Cup venue, the Belfry, on September 7 and 8.
The pair played some impressive golf to take the win, dovetailing well to come home with a very strong total of 24 points.
They now join qualifiers from all over the UK and Ireland in front of the Sky Sports’ cameras for the national final.
Christopher and Kerry will compete across two days to be crowned American Golf Family Champions and take the title of best family golfing pair in the UK.
This win also puts the Gaudet Luce Golf Club members in contention for the Tournament of Champions in Mauritius, should they succeed at the iconic Midland venue.
Lyle Hastie, American Golf manager from the Worcester store, said, “To have won through to the National finals of the American Golf Family Championships is a great achievement and I’m delighted that the local golfing community will be well represented.
“It will be an incredible experience playing on a Ryder Cup course and I can’t wait to see how our pair get on.”
