Wudu facility opens at Worcestershire Royal Hospital

A WUDU facility has been officially opened at Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

There is a thriving Muslim community working, being treated at and visiting the hospital.

And the new wudu facility, located near to the multifaith prayer room, offers them a dedicated space in which to prepare for prayers.

Funding was provided by Worcestershire Acute Hospitals Charity.

Sophie Burt, head of fundraising and community development, said: ‘As a charity we aim to be there for our whole community, providing enhancements that make a real difference. We have delighted to fund this project of improving facilities for our community. The space provides a dedicated Wudu space, an important step in ensuring our community feels welcomed and respected in our hospitals.”

Dr Munir Ahmed added: “Seeing the facility be officially opened today was a real celebratory moment, the project was a real community collaboration seeing multi faiths, hospital departments and the charity come together to enhance the experience of our community. Being able to provide the community with this dedicated Wudu really represents the trust’s values of ensuring our community feels cared for and respected. It has made a real difference for our practising Muslim community.”
