Wraps taken off new Range store in Worcester

FESTIVE shoppers were invited to take a look around Worcester’s newest store as The Range opened its doors on the former Homebase site.

The home, leisure and garden superstore giant was opened by Mayor of Worcester Coun Allah Ditta and Mayoress Naseem Akthar.

A star prize for the first shopper in line was on offer as part of a giveaway for the first 50 people in the queue at the grand opening.

The new store in Worcester took the wraps off 80 part-time and full-time jobs; from store and department managers to warehouse workers and retail assistants and was the 181st Range store to open across the UK and Ireland.

Owner and founder of The Range, Chris Dawson, said: “Each store plays an important part in the success of our company and Worcester is no exception.

“This site has been on the radar for some time and we are delighted to bring a new national retailer to the town, especially with this being a new build, bringing many benefits to the local economy”.

Mr Dawson began life as a market stall trader across the South West of England before opening his first store in 1989 in Plymouth, under the name CDS (Chris Dawson Superstores) and has grown the company at an impressive rate ever since.

The new store will provide a wide variety of products across 16 departments, including DIY, kitchen and dining and arts and crafts. An Iceland foods store, outdoor garden centre and Iceland café will also be on offer.
