SOME 50 workers – rising to 150 by the end of this year – are beavering away on Worcester’s largest regeneration project.

When complete, the £150million investment in the revival of the city’s Shrub Hill area, will comprise hundreds of new apartments including affordable housing, a hotel, gym, multi-storey car park. food and beverage outlets and multiscreen cinema and ten-pin bowling.

This huge project is a significant boost to the local economy bringing hundreds of jobs to the city and providing much needed housing for the people of Worcester and the opportunity for local people to get on the freehold ladder.

Phase one of the scheme is underway for the first phase of 213 apartments with the first level of the seven-storey apartment building in place enabling the scaffolding to progress to level two, where precast walls are being installed.

Aside from making the construction more efficient and providing a uniform, high-quality finish, precast concrete also comes with many environmental benefits, reducing the impact of the building.

Ground-workers are stoning up the last section of the second block where the deck will be erected and scaffolding is now advancing on the Tolladine Road elevation
