Work begins to transform former social club into flats

Worcester Editorial 28th Jan, 2023   0

WORK has started to bring affordable accommodation to the site of an old disused social club in Worcester.

The plot where the building used to be on Mayfield Road is now being turned into a block of flats which will include allocated parking and electric vehicle charging capabilities.

In total, 22 apartments will be available with space being made for a drive for the owner’s vehicles to park off the street to avoid congestion.

Social landlord Platform Housing Group is managing the development alongside contractor Four Shires.

Pawel Wiktor, regional Head of Delivery for Platform said: “We’re delighted to be able to bring this fantastic scheme to the city centre, providing much needed affordable accommodation and space to park away from the busy street.

“We’d like to thank our partners in the local authority and our contractors for their hard work in making the scheme possible.”

Work is expected to be completed on the apartments at the start of 2024.
