Worcestershire locations hit the silver screen

FAMILIAR locations are making their way to the silver screen this month as Worcestershire Film Festival returns – featuring two films shot locally.

The event, which starts on September 25, is expected to draw the attention of both UK and international filmmakers and also coincides with the release of two films, Speak No Evil and Joy both featuring locations facilitated by Worcestershire Film Office.

Speak No Evil, a psychological horror-thriller, is poised for release and stars James McAvoy and Mackenzie Davis. The storyline revolves around a family’s haunting experience at an idyllic country house and features a scene set at a Worcestershire quarry.

The production team on the set of Speak No Evil said: “Once again we want to thank the Worcestershire Film Office team for all of their help during filming.

Especially with fast-tracking the application, as we know this can be a lengthy process. The filming was a great success at the Worcestershire location, and we very much look forward to working with the team again in the future.”

And coming soon to Netflix, Joy is a true story starring Bill Nighy as Patrick Steptoe, Thomasin McKenzie as Jean Purdy, and James Norton as Robert Edwards who worked on the development of IVF treatment and the world’s first IVF baby. Worcestershire Film Office facilitated drone filming and traffic management at a location in Malvern.

The film office provides a range of filming locations across the county from commercial and industrial buildings, parks and gardens, streets and roads, landscapes and woodland.
