Tom Collins has officially launched his campaign to become the next Member of Parliament for Worcester with an event in Warndon.

Emphasising the need for change after 14 years of Conservative governance, Mr Collins positioned his campaign as a pivotal moment for Worcester voters.

Mr. Collins expressed optimism about the opportunity the upcoming general election presents. “Now that the prime minister has finally called a general election, we have the chance to choose change.”

He highlighting the widespread dissatisfaction among Worcester residents, Mr Collins criticised the current state of government and public services.

“The people I speak to in Worcester have had enough of chaos in government, collapsing public services, and a cost of living crisis that is far from over.

“Things can be different. I believe there’s real hope. The Labour Party has changed, it’s ready to serve the country.

“And we will put ordinary working people at the heart of our plan to build a better future.”

Labour’s campaign in Worcester will focus on a comprehensive plan for national renewal.

Key points include stabilising the economy, revitalising the NHS, establishing Great British Energy, and reforming water companies.

The plan also aims to address antisocial behaviour and crime, and to remove barriers to opportunity.

Mr Collins also mentioned Worcester’s potential for growth and innovation, particularly in supporting small businesses and training new medical professionals.

“Worcester could be at the front of this change – with our wealth of small independent businesses, and the chance to be at the cutting edge of training a new generation of medics. Our city has an exciting future ahead of it, now is the time to turn the page and choose change.”

Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer said: “This is a chance to change Worcester with Labour.

“Over the course of the last four years, we have changed the Labour Party and returned it once more to the service of working people. All we ask now, humbly, is to do exactly the same for our country.”
