WORCESTER’S Ellan Fraser has been among the 12 selected to represent Great Britain at the upcoming Women’s Under 25 wheelchair basketball World Championships in Bangkok.

Ellan, who studies Physiotherapy at the University of Worcester, will be flying out to Thailand to compete between October 3 and October 9.

She featured for the GB Women at the senior World Championships in June and is hoping to secure a spot on the plane for the Paris Paralympics next summer.

Ellan started playing the sport in 2015 and has since gone on to represent Worcester Wolves in the Women’s Premier League, the first-ever UK professional disability sports competition in the country.

Last week Ellan announced she would be returning to the Wolves for a third season.

During her two years with the team, she has helped Worcester secure back-to-back bronze medal finishes, and she has also played in the national Premier League for Warwickshire Bears.

She said: “I’m very excited about being selected and I’m so thankful for all the support I’ve had from my family, friends and the University of Worcester.

This team means so much to me, I’ve known these girls my whole career and to be playing in an international competition with them is just amazing.

“There’s so much potential for this team and I can’t wait to see what we will achieve at the World Championships.”

The under-25 world championships feature ten countries, with GB getting their campaign underway in Pool A against USA, Australia, Spain and China.
