Worcester women own the catwalk for cancer charity

A GLAMOROUS Worcester duo strutted their stuff on the catwalk to help raise £370,000 for charity.

Kate Butler, 41 and Susie Coleman, 39, who have both had experiences with breast cancer, were chosen as models for Breast Cancer Care’s charity catwalk last Thursday in London.

Taking place at the Park Plaza Westminster Hotel, the best friends were part of a 31-strong team of men and women from across the UK who have experienced breast cancer.

The women were treated to a meal, fashion show and entertainment from, among others, Tony Christie, who sang his classic ‘Is this the way to Amarillo’.

The pair also met Denise Van Outen, who was the host of the evening and was reduced to tears following Kate’s moving speech.

Susie said: “Kate and I applied to take part together as we’re best friends brought together by breast cancer, so we were thrilled when we were selected to model for Breast Cancer Care.

“Knowing we helped raise such a huge amount of money is so humbling.

“We were so excited to strut our stuff down the catwalk in front of celebrities such as Denise Van Outen, Cherie Blair and Lisa Snowdon.”

Kate added: “I really surprised myself as I wasn’t as nervous as I thought I would be when giving my speech to the 1,400 guests at the show.

“I had written it about my friendship with Susie, how she had helped me when I was diagnosed with breast cancer, and how Breast Cancer Care had also helped me with the invaluable information and services they provide. It came from the heart.”
