THE WORCESTER Ukulele Club has raised £14,000 for its Charity of the Year, the Maggs Day centre, writes Maya Dabrowska.

The club has now completed its 2025 fundraising cycle for the cause which helps those experience homelessness.

Club members had seen vast amounts of support from across the community with audiences enjoying a number of fundraising activities.

These included gigs, quizzes, raffles, busking sessions and donations collected during performances throughout the year.

Of the £14,000 raised, £1,250 was contributed by the Malvern Ukulele Club, whose members also rallied behind the cause and boosted the overall fundraising total.

The Ukulele Club further showed support to Maggs by partaking in various activities with the staff and service users, sharing music, singing together and creating a comfortable environment.

Maggs supports disadvantaged individuals across Worcestershire through its day centres and by providing necessities such as access to clothing and harm reduction services.

A spokesperson from the club said: “It has been the greatest of pleasures to be part of Maggs’ world for a year and I am sure we will continue to support them through our music in the future.”

Melissa Blewitt, fundraising, communications and relationships manager at Maggs, said the ukulele club had been incredible supporters of the charity.

“Their commitment, generosity and sheer joy have helped us reach people at some of the most difficult moments in their lives.

“This £14,000 will make a real, practical difference across our services, and we’re so grateful for their continued support.”
