Worcester Show returning in August

THE DIVERSE cultures of people living in the the city will be celebrated at the Worcester Show on August, 11 at Pitchcroft.

The Community Marquee will be a space where visitors can learn about different cultures as well as trying on traditional outfits and listen to music.

Sunil Desayrah of Worcester Welcomes Refugees said: “This year the Community Marquee will showcase a collection of international groups living in Worcester.

“With displays of crafts, games, music and food tasters. We hope to surprise you and show how living in a multi-cultural society enriches our city.”

There will be a Ukrainian choir and the Worcestershire England Filipino band, Paurosi, a local singer from Zimbabwe, along with brother and sister Eltayeb and khadija who will sing in Arabic.

The Worcester Anti-Racism scheme will be showing North African culture by sharing traditional Arabic desserts and making bracelets.




Joanne Best, from the Worcester Afro Caribbean Association added: “I’m definitely looking forward to this year’s Worcester Show and being a part of the Community Marquee team on the day.

“It’s a good opportunity for networking with other cultural groups and finding out how diverse a community we are.


“I loved last year’s event, and it was good to meet some of the local community groups.”

Mix Café – who provide training for people with learning disabilities and mental health challenges – will be serving refreshments, cakes and sandwiches in the marquee.

Worcestershire Black Cultural Association will be sharing traditional Nigerian street food, providing craft activities and teaching people to play a traditional game from Zimbabwe.

The Show is supported by event partners Platform Housing, Southco, Worcester BID, Five Star Windows and First Bus, who will be providing an enhanced bus service into the city for the event.
