WEST MERCIA Police have confirmed that the substance sprayed into a Worcester shop on Saturday (August, 10) was a stink bomb and not dangerous.

Officers were called to the shop on Silver Street on the evening following a substance being sprayed.

Emergency serves attended the scene and no-one was injured.

Inspector Ed Shotton said: “It has now been established the substance that was sprayed into the shop was a stink bomb. I hope the public understand the steps we took were necessary, to ensure everyone’s safety.

“At the time it wasn’t known what the substance was, and it could’ve caused harm.

“The behaviour was anti-social, had a significant impact on the local community and took up valuable time from emergency services. We will continue to work to identify those responsible.

“Anyone with any information is asked to get in touch by calling 01905 331030 and quoting incident number 342i of Saturday 10 August.”
