Worcester nine-year-old Charlotte to complete 10k around city to raise cash for Guide Dogs

Worcester Editorial 18th Mar, 2023   0

A NINE-year-old from Worcester will be completing a 10k run around the city this Saturday to raise money for sight loss charity Guide Dogs.

Charlotte Mylotte will run and walk a 10k route around Worcester with support from her dad, Ian Mylotte, with friends and family planning to cheer her on along the way.

Charlotte said: “I wanted to fundraise for Guide Dogs because anyone who knows me knows how much I love dogs.

“Guide Dogs is an amazing charity that gives the visually impaired their independence back.

“I have been training at Parkrun with my brother George and friends Sarah and Eva who have been amazing at encouraging me and have done some longer runs with my Mum, Katie Mylotte, in preparation for the big 10km.

“I will be celebrating at the finish of the run with my friends, family, neighbours and a piece of cake!

“So far I have raised £560, an amazing achievement, since my mission when I started fundraising was £200. I hope the money I have raised will change someone’s life.”

Guide Dogs is a national charity which helps the two million people in the UK living with sight loss to live the life they choose.

Miles Northwood, Community Fundraising Relationship Manager for Guide Dogs in Worcester, said: “We’d like to say a big thank you to Charlotte for taking on this challenge and raising money for us here at Guide Dogs.

“It costs around £55,000 to support a guide dog from birth to retirement and, as a charity, we rely almost entirely on public donations to keep our life-changing services running.

“We wish Charlotte the best of luck for Saturday and hope she enjoys her well-earned piece of cake at the finish line!”
