PEOPLE in St John’s will get to spend more time in their local library as a new scheme launches this week.

Libraries Unlocked will go live on Thursday (March 14) extending the service’s opening hours using new technology.

St John’s Library will now be open between 8am and 8pm from Monday to Saturday.

Libraries Unlocked is a new service which provides more flexibility for customers and community groups.

Thanks to new technology, members can enjoy services such as borrowing and returning books, utilising free library computers and Wi-Fi, participating in community events, and hiring meeting rooms.

Worcestershire County Council’s cabinet member for communities, said: “I am thrilled that Libraries Unlocked will be launching at St John’s Library.

“Libraries are at the heart of our communities across Worcestershire, and I’m very pleased that we’re developing new approaches that work around our residents’ busy lives.”
