A WORCESTER care home has teamed up with local Scouts and joined a nationwide campaign to save traditional recipes from being forgotten.
A poll of 2,000 adults carried out by Care UK, which operates Perry Manor Care Home, found almost two-thirds of the country no longer uses family recipes that have been handed down through the generations.
However, 43 per cent of people surveyed are keen to save them, and so Care UK has launched a free downloadable recipe book.
The book, named Recipes to Remember, features delicious dishes shared by care home residents across the UK.
Residents from Perry Manor played their part by rolling up their sleeves and donning their aprons, with Head Chef Nicola baking fruit, ginger and lemon drizzle cakes, as well as a Victoria sponge, bread pudding and a jam tart.
After the baking, residents played the blind taste test game called “What’s the pud?” with the help of the Worcester Scouts.
