PEOPLE across the Faithful City paused and remembered one of its favourite sons on Monday as they paid a poignant farewell to much-loved local landlord Alex Pope.

Friends, family and those touched by Alex’s kindness gathered at Worcester Cathedral to pay their last respects to the popular Paul Pry landlord.

Alex passed away aged 39 last month sparking an outpouring of tributes and messages of condolence to his loved ones.

His loved ones invited all those who wished to celebrate his life to attend the service, while a livestream of proceedings on the Paul Pry Facebook page was watched by almost 10,000 people.

Many gathered outside the Paul Pry before the service as his hearse drove past his beloved pub one final time.

At his family’s request, all the money which would have been spent on flowers was instead donated to Age UK.

A GoFundMe was set up to support his family following Alex’s passing and raised over £15,800.
