Worcester paint festival awarded funding for new murals

THE WORCESTER Paint Festival, an organisation that champions emerging local street artists, has been awarded funding to create vibrant murals in the city.

The funding comes from Platform Housing Group’s Community Chest, aimed at supporting projects that directly benefit Platform customers.

The new mural project will focus on the Dines Green area, a location identified as having significant need and among the UK’s highest areas of deprivation.

The project, set to be delivered in September, is expected to bring positive change to the community by transforming public spaces through art.

Kate Cox, director and producer of the Worcester Paint Festival, said: “Worcester Paint Festival is thrilled to receive this donation from Platform, enabling us to deliver two amazing murals for the Dines Green community.

“Thanks to our ongoing partnership with Platform – and following on from previous mural successes in Dent Close, St Clements Close, Moor Street, and St Pauls Street – we can gauge the direct impact that murals have on communities, with wonderful feedback from residents in these areas.

“We hope to help make people smile more and give reasons to connect with each other.”

The grant for the mural comes from Platform Housing Group’s Community Chest, a fund designed to support Platform customers and local charities, clubs, and other not-for-profit organisations.

Applications are assessed by customers who sit on the Customer Voice Panel, ensuring that the projects funded meet specific eligibility criteria and benefit the local community.

The Worcester Paint Festival brings together street, mural, and graffiti artists to create a dynamic outdoor art gallery in the city.

It showcases renowned names in the UK street art scene alongside emerging artists, fostering a vibrant and inclusive artistic community. The Festival collaborate.
