WORCESTER’s outgoing mayor has donated over £7,000 to his chosen charity.

Coun Louis Stephen chose Age UK as the charity to raise money for during his year in office and raised £7,399.47.

Fundraising events including a charity fashion show were organised for the charity and a concert of The Elgar Chorale of Worcester.

The mayor also hosted the annual Worcester Civic Society lecture titled ‘Our Canal Heritage’.

Coun Stephen said: “It’s been a lot of fun supporting Age UK, the highlight for me was the Mayor’s Charity Fashion Show.

“We raised lots of money for a great cause and gave a fantastic opportunity to highlight the amazing creative skills of Worcester’s young people.”

Coun Mel Allcott was elected as the new Mayor of Worcester during an Annual Council meeting and is raising money for Perdiswell Young Peoples Leisure Club during her year in office.
