A YOUNG Worcester footballer has been signed to play for the Under 9s at Aston Villa Football Club.
On May, 20 the young footballer, Mika – a year three student from Oasis Academy Warndon – was signed.
Mika was first recognised whilst playing for the Oldbury park Tigers during a tournament, but after elbow injuries he was released from initial training sessions.
Mika pushed on and once again caught the eye of scouts from Wolverhampton, West Bromwich, Leicester, Coventry and Aston Villa.
He played for Solihull Academy on Saturdays and Solihull Moors on Sundays.
Aston Villa scouts Jon Sarriegui and Dave Crowe played a pivotal role in recognising Mika’s potential and bringing him back into the scouting spotlight.
Mr Gheorge Madalin Alexandru, Mika’s father, said: “We are so proud of Mika. He trains really hard and has great ambition at such a young age.
“We are also very thankful to his school, Oasis Academy Warndon, for being so understanding and encouraging when it comes to Mika’s training commitments. Mika couldn’t have achieved this without his school’s help.”
Principal Suzanne Owen of Oasis Academy Warndon, added: “Mika’s dedication and passion for football are truly inspiring. We are incredibly proud of his accomplishments and the entire academy community will continue to support him.”
