A BID to boost tourism further in the city has seen Worcester’s Art Gallery and Museum and The Commandery open on Sundays for the first time.
Worcester City Council approved the changes in November to give greater access to residents at times they wish to visit.
It’s hoped the move will also enhance Worcester’s offer to tourists keen to learn more about the Faithful City.
The two museums are key destinations for visitors to the city, attracting a combined 80,000 visitors each year.
Both help to raise the profile of Worcester as a heritage destination and contribute significantly to the local economy.
The spend by museum visitors in other local businesses each year is around £2.4million, according to recent figures.
Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum is the largest and most visited museum in Worcestershire
It houses important displays of the city’s history including artefacts relating to Worcestershire Sauce and Worcester’s gloving industry.
Little Al’s Kitchen at the Balcony Café will also be open on Sundays from 10am to 2.30pm.
