WORCESTERSHIRE County Council leader Coun Simon Geraghty said the authority would work to mitigate the impact of future floods.
This comes after he visited Worcester City Centre to access the devastation this month’s floods have caused.
Coun Geraghty and the authority’s cabinet member for the environment, Coun Richard Morris, met with people and businesses across the Faithful City to see how they had been impacted.
The visit comes after it was revealed almost 200 properties were affected by Storm Henk across Worcestershire.
The duo heard how people had been affected particularly badly, and witnessed how the water had entered into the properties and caused damage.
The clean-up operation following Storm Henk is ongoing.
Coun Geraghty said: “During our recent visits we were able to see first-hand the devastation caused by last week’s flood, and listen to the residents and businesses affected.
“We also heard about their experiences of previous flood events.
“I admire their resilience at this tough time and their determination to get back on their feet as quickly as possible.
“With flooding occurring more frequently we will continue to work with all the agencies involved to seek to mitigate the impact of future flood events.”
