WATCH- We saw a heritage steam locomotive on its journey to Worcester

Worcester Editorial 6th Apr, 2024   0

A HERITAGE STEAM locomotive was in the Faithful City today (Saturday, April 6) as part of an excursion from Norwich to Worcester Shrub Hill, writes Neil Gordon.

Steam locomotive number 44871, known as a Black 5, is working the Railway Touring Company’s ‘Worcester Steam Express.’

Passengers on the excursion were treated to  around four hours’ leisure time in Worcester before the tour headed back to Norwich.

The train passed through Northfield, Bromsgrove and Droitwich earlier in both directions.

A diesel locomotive is on the rear of the train which enabled the excursion to pass through Bromsgrove without stopping for banking assistance on its return journey.
