Volunteering event in Worcester with local charities and organisations this month

AN EVENT in Worcester will showcase opportunities to volunteer with local charities and organisations this month.

It is one of the largest events of its kind in the city – over 40 organisations will be in attendance, and is being held at the Guildhall between 10am and 2pm on June 14.

There will be opportunities in driving careers, administration, practical mentoring and retail industries.

Lloyd Griffiths, Worcester City Council’s corporate director for operations, homes and communities, said: “The Worcester Volunteer Expo is perfect for anyone who would like to make a difference to a cause that they feel strongly about.

“The event is an informal drop-in – there is no pressure to sign up on the day or to make any sort of commitment. I’d urge anyone interested in volunteering to attend and find out more.”

Sally Ellison MBE, project co-ordinator for Worcester Community Action, said: “We are really looking forward to this year’s Volunteer Expo – we have so many different organisations attending, including community groups, the voluntary sector and the statutory sector, so there should be something of interest for everyone.

“Whether you’d like to know about volunteering in archaeology, the environment, emergency services, health and care, driving, working with young people, older people, those with disabilities – all can be found at the Expo.”
