Unwanted bikes can be be given a new lease of life at Crowngate

Worcester Editorial 3rd Feb, 2024   0

ANY unwanted or unused adult or child bikes can be given a new lease of life thanks to a city-wide recycling scheme.

Worcester residents who may be having a spring clean can donate their unwanted wheels and gift them to locals in need.

Bikes which can be repaired and refurbished through the workshop at Crowngate Shopping Centre can be donated.

The bikes will then be passed on at low cost to people in need. Those who want to take part in one of Bike Worcester’s weekly bike buses to primary schools are given priority.

Bike Worcester volunteer Phil Jones said:

“Last year around 30 volunteers helped repair and refurbish 100 bikes, donated by city residents.

“It’s fantastic to see the smiles on the faces of the recipients. Across 2024, we aim to recycle and distribute another 100 bikes.

Bike Worcester volunteers will also be back for February’s Worcester Repair Cafes, following lots of interest for bike advice.

The nexy session will take place at Unity House on Stanley Road on February 10, from 11am to 1.30pm.

Bike Worcester volunteers will fix punctures, tweak brakes and gears and offer solutions to other common bike issues.

Critical Mass, a slow mass bike ride around the city, will take place on February 17 at the Croft Road car park.
