TWO teenage boys have been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery after an incident in Malvern.

The boys, both from Malvern and aged 14 and 13, were arrested on Tuesday, January 23 following the incident, which took place the day before.

On January 22 at about 4.50pm an 11-year-old boy was approached on Barnards Green by two boys and two girls.

Two boys allegedly attempted to take the victim’s coat by force before assaulting him.

The alleged attack was interrupted by a passer-by and two boys fled without taking any of the victim’s belongings.

A kind-hearted person helped the victim get home safely where he is recovering well.

The same two boys were also arrested on suspicion of an offence of a second robbery on Monday, January 22.

In this incident, coats were allegedly stolen from a 13-year-old boy and a 12-year-old boy on a train travelling between Worcester Foregate Street and Malvern Link.

This investigation is being managed by British Transport Police.

Insp Dave Wise of the Malvern Hills and Wychavon Safer Neighbourhood Team said: “This is a troubling incident involving young people as both the victims and suspects of serious offences.

“I’m extremely grateful to the individual who stepped in on Barnards Green Road to protect the young victim and who prevented the incident from becoming any worse.

“The local policing team responded promptly and positively, identifying suspects, and making early arrests.

“We’ll continue to work with our colleagues in British Transport Police to ensure our enquiries are thorough and anyone responsible is brought to justice.”
