Popular Worcester landlord Alex's beloved pub reopening to 'raise a glass and remember him'

THE FAMILY of popular Worcester landlord Alex Pope has announced his beloved Paul Pry pub will reopen this weekend to allow people to remember him after his sudden passing.

The pub will open its doors at 3pm this Sunday (January 21) for the first time since the 39-year-olds passing was announced last weekend.

His loved ones said the occasion would be a chance for people to raise a glass to remember Alex and share their fond memories of him.

A GoFundMe page was set up to pay for the funeral expenses and to help with the ongoing short-term costs of his beloved Paul Pry.

More than £14,500 had been raised from over 370 donations from people across Worcester, many of whom paid heartfelt tributes.

His loved ones said in a statement: “We would like to thank each & every one of you who’ve shown your overwhelming love, support and generosity to us over the past few days since his passing.”

People across the Faithful City took to social media to pay their own tributes to Alex.

Mark and Felicity Regent, who set up the fund-raiser, added: “Many of you have sent wonderful kind words of love and such fond memories and stories, which have been so kindly received by family and friends.

“His impact is immeasurable and he created something truly amazing.

“The family are absolutely blown away by the love and support from everyone and this money will go towards ensuring Al has the send-off he deserves.

“Many thanks again, Worcester and beyond – the money raised is a testament to the great bloke that he was.”
