New life as Worcester Peregrine Falcons live-stream returns after error

Worcester Editorial 3rd Apr, 2024   0

WORCESTER Cathedral’s much-loved peregrine falcon live-stream is back up and running after avid fans had to miss it through Easter.

Falcon watchers noticed the live-stream had gone down last Thursday and the issue continued into the Easter bank holiday weekend celebrations.

But on Wednesday morning, Worcester Cathedral confirmed the live-stream was back running on its YouTube page.

A spokesperson for the cathedral apologised for the absence of the live-stream but confirmed all was fine in the nest.

So far, four eggs have been laid by Worcester’s two peregrine visitors, named Peter and Peggy by cathedral followers.

The adult birds have been visiting the nest box for around a month now.

This year’s livestream has again proved hugely popular, with a video of Peter meeting his ‘entire family’ for the first time receiving more than 3,400 views.

Engrossed viewers have also watched Peter and Peggy keeping the eggs warm and dry during the wet and windy Worcester weather.

The cathedral’s team of peregrine experts hope the chicks will hatch in late April or early May.

The action is also being live-streamed on a screen inside the cathedral.

Cathedral bosses will also host a series of drop-in sessions with a team of experts, cameras and scopes to allow people to see the birds up close later in the season.

Peregrines have been in and around Worcester for hundreds of years and are depicted in the cathedral’s great West Window and parts of the stonework.
