'Guitar-playing Worcestershire nuisance' handed order to curb his anti-social behaviour

Worcester Editorial 23rd Apr, 2024   0

A 40-YEAR-OLD ‘guitar-playing’ Malvern man with a history of anti-social behaviour has been handed a Community Protection Warning (CPW) to curb his unruly antics.

The order, given under Section 43 of the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014, was served by PC Prew from Malvern’s Safer Neighbourhood Team because of the negative impact it had on members of the public.

Police said the man’s unreasonable behaviour was dentrimental and having a negative impact on members of the public.

The man has shown an unwanted presence at Great Malvern Cemetery and adjoining chapel in Madresfield Road, Malvern, playing guitar in the graveyard and also seen in possession of drug paraphernalia, causing alarm and distress for staff and members of the public attending the graveyard, including young children.

The man must refrain from behaving in this way when attending the graveyard and only attend the graveyard for the purpose of visiting graves.

The CPW will be reviewed within 12 months from its issue date.

The conduct the man has displayed must stop.

If the behaviour continues or the man fails to comply with the CPW, he could face arrest, a £100 on-the-spot fine.

Repeat offences could see fines rise to up to £2,500.

The court may also make whatever order the court thinks appropriate.

Malvern Police Safer Neighbourhood Team said it continued to work hard to help keep our community safe.
