A REMARKABLE Worcester woman was in a party mood after celebrating her 105th birthday in style.

Doris Raistrick received a card from King Charles III and Queen Camilla in recognition of her landmark day.

She them enjoyed a champagne reception at Latimer Court Care Home, where she lives.

Doris’ younger years were spent living through the Second World War, before she met her husband-to-be, Roy, who she was married to for 56 years.

She was the Manageress of a grocery store, and Roy the Manager of a cinema before they decided to have children.

After this, Doris left work to be a housewife.

The birthday girl said: “I’m so happy and excited to turn 105, I can’t quite believe it and the things I’ve lived to see. My secret to a long life is to always be happy, and eat healthy.”

Doris’ daughter, Wendy, granddaughters Samantha and Amanda, and great-granddaughter Sarah all joined in with the celebrations.

Wendy added: “Doris is and has been a fantastic mother and friend to so many over the past hundred and five years, and it’s wonderful to be with her on this very special day to say just how proud she makes us feel.”
