BIKE Worcester has been represented at Cycling UK strategy launch in London during Bike Week on June 10-16.

Local active travel champions Katie Collier and Georgie Tucker were named in the top 100 women in cycling last year.

In recognition of their efforts in encouraging cycling and active travel they were invited to the cycling UK’s new strategy launch – held at the Institute of Civil Engineers.

Kate said: “Cycling UK exists to enable and inspire people from all backgrounds and abilities to experience the joy and benefits of cycling.

“It was an honour to represent the work of Bike Worcester at this special inspirational event and hear stories from communities across the UK, who are solving the barriers to cycling and making strides to ensure cycling is a safe and easy choice for everyone to travel, explore and have fun.”

Bike Worcester is a member of Cycling UK and campaigns for practical actions to make it safer for people to cycle around the city.

The volunteers organise bike buses and bike recycling schemes and are based at Crowngate Shopping Centre.

Following Katie and Georgie’s award, Bike Worcester looked for 100 Worcester women who cycle to share their stories – 128 stories have so far been shared as part of a photo montage on the website.
