Bid launched to refurbish popular Crowle Parish Hall

Worcester Editorial 5th Mar, 2024   0

A BID has been launched to pay for the refurbishment of a popular parish hall in Crowle.

A jumble sale is set to be held on Saturday with cash raised going towards the refurbishment of the 24-year-old Millennium Parish Hall.

The sale will take place in the Church Road hall between 2pm and 3.30pm.

Their efforts will boost reserves which will go towards a £48,500 ‘Going Green’ project with the venue’s sister, Platinum Hall.

The project will complete both halls’ journeys to zero on-site CO2 production.

Children from Crowle Pre-School, who use the hall every weekday as well as other regular visiting groups, are aiming to raise a ‘significant amount’ towards the £7,500 needed for new flooring and chairs.

Hall bosses are also applying for grants to put more cash in their coffers.

In total, £24,000 has already been raised through hiring the hall, fundraising activities, and payments from the venue’s solar panels.

This cash has been used to replace the Millennium Hall’s drafty and leaking timber windows with high-quality, thermally broken double glazing.

Future phases include improving the wall and roof insulation at the hall, adding extra solar panels, replacing the original oil-filled boiler and fitting LED lights.

The ‘Going Green’ project will also buy an eco-friendly solar panel battery for each of the halls.
