A VILLAGE near Worcester will host an art exhibition in hopes to paint a brighter future for historic church.

The festival will showcase the talents of local artists at St Martin’s Church in Holt this weekend (May 18-19).

Visitors can enjoy a mix of paintings, textile art, pottery and photography at the exhibition.

Christine Benson, John Horton and Inglis Thomson will be among the many artists exhibiting their work, as well as creations from students from Grimley and Holt Primary School who have taken part in an art competition.

Artist and co-organiser Mrs Benson said: “The exhibition is part of our wider efforts to raise awareness and funds for this beautiful and historic Grade 1 listed church.

“Rural churches are part of the fabric of our history and communities but now – more than ever – they need our support if we’re to sustain their future.”
