Worcester man handed CBO for possession of golf ball in a sock

A 40-YEAR-OLD Worcester man has been given a criminal behaviour order for assault and possession of an offensive weapon.

Darren Dowie, of Oakridge Close, was in possession of a golf ball in a sock on April 19 at CrownGate shopping centre and was sentenced to six months in prison, suspended for 12 months.

On the back of the conviction, Dowie was granted a three-year CBO when he appeared at Worcester Magistrates Court on July 25.

The order prohibits him from:




1. Using foul, abusive or insulting language, or being aggressive, threatening or intimidating in any public place or place to where the public has access,

2. Sleeping in the doorways of any business/office/residential premise,


3. Entering Dent Close, Worcester,

4. Entering TK Maxx on the High Street and Asda on Silver Street and Sainsbury’s on Windermere Drive.
