Worcester Male Voice Choir to celebrate St George

PATRIOTIC members of Worcester Male Voice Choir are warming up their vocal cords for a St George’s Day concert.

It will take place at St Martin Church on London Road on Saturday April 18, with cash raised going to the Alzheimer’s Society.

The concert will include songs such as Land of Hope and Glory and Jerusalem – as well as other numbers that will demonstrate the powerfully moving effect of four-part harmony, delivered by a 60-strong male voice choir.

Worcester Male Voice Choir is a registered charity and prides itself on raising money for other charities through its concerts and performances.

Choir chairman Graham Heath said, “We are delighted to be performing once more in the impressive surroundings and marvellous acoustics of St Martin’s Church.

“We raise thousands of pounds for charity every year. Our chosen charity for this year is Alzheimer’s Society – the UK’s leading dementia charity – and the proceeds from this concert will support their vital work.”

Musical director Scott Woolfenden added: “St Martin’s is a wonderful place to perform. The concert will showcase the unique sound of a male voice choir, including deeply resonant traditional songs, as well as passionate modern classics. It really will be a night not to miss.”
