Worcester lads 'blag' their way into England team hotel

THREE football fanatics used one of the oldest tricks in the book to bypass Brazilian security and meet the England football team.

Andy Richardson, Alex Hill and Josh Pearce, all from Worcester, are currently out in the Copacabana nation and made the trip to the Three Lion’s hotel in a bid to see the stars.

Andy, who is on crutches, approached the 20 police guards at the door and said he needed to use the toilet as he was unable to walk any further.

And to his surprise they let him and his friends in without any further questions.

The 22-year-old said: “I found out the England squad had just arrived in Rio so I got out of bed and tried finding where.

The taxi driver first took us to Royal Rio and that wasn’t it, then another hotel called Golden Tulip and again we said no, then suddenly he took us on a 25 minute drive to where they were.

“We got out and there was armed police everywhere, so we sun bathed on the beach for three hours. Then we thought, we’re going in.

“20 armed police and I said hopping towards them in my boot, I needed the toilet. They fell for the trick and suddenly we were in. Roy Hodgson was there so started off getting a photo with him and within the next three to four hours we got pictures with most the squad.

“We ended up having six beers and a club sandwich and we did it.”
