A BRAIN injury charity has been one of the first in Worcestershire to be granted an outstanding care award.

Headway Worcestershire, a charity that helps people living with brain injury and other neurological problems, is celebrating a positive inspection from the Care Quality Commission, who regulate all health and social care services.

The charity, which supports people in their own homes, received an outstanding rating in the category of caring and a good rating for being safe, effective, responsive and well-led.

Registered manager, Laura Hall, said: “We are one of the first organisations in Worcestershire to receive an outstanding rating for caring. For our wonderful staff it is well deserved.

“The Inspector spoke to the people who use our services as well as staff, relatives and other care professionals. It is reassuring to get such positive feedback.

“We employ some very dedicated people who will always go the extra mile for our clients. We involve people who use the service at recruitment interviews and they know the difference between saying you care and being a really caring person.”

Headway Worcestershire recently celebrated its 25th anniversary and offers a range of services including day opportunities programmes, counselling and self-help groups.
