HOUSEHOLDS across Worcester will see a £150 council tax rebate paid into their bank accounts from this month.
The discount will be applied automatically for everyone who lives in a council tax band A-D property and pays by Direct Debit
This will include around 20 million households in the UK which also includes 95 per cent of rented properties. The rebate will be paid by local authorities while your eligibility should have been determined at the start of the month of April.
To have qualified for the £150 you must be living in in a council tax bands A to D property in England and it must either be your sole or main home – this will exclude second homes and empty properties in terms of eligibility.
Also, in order to receive the payment, you must meet certain criteria such as being signed up to direct debit and have a current account.
When will the rebate be paid?
Because local authorities are responsible for delivering the rebate payments in their areas, people across the country may receive it at different dates. According to Worcester City Council it will be paid during May.
The council is awaiting guidance on how to pay the £150 to residents who do not pay their council tax by Direct Debit or have no Council Tax to pay.
Residents are asked not to contact the council about the payment, Worcester City Council will be in touch.
