When Jonny met the Jonny dog

A WORCESTER Warriors rugby player met his namesake puppy in a bid to encourage people to adopt a homeless hound from Evesham Dogs Trust.

The Wickhamford rehoming centre recently teamed up with the rugby club to ‘try’ and help find homes for some of the four-legged friends currently residing there, which saw Jonny Arr meet ‘Jonny’, an eight-month-old playful Terrier puppy.

As a dog lover, Jonny took time out of his busy rugby schedule to play with the Terrier and is calling on other dog lovers to provide a forever home to one of the centre’s furry friends.

Jonny said: “I was delighted to have one of the pups at Evesham Dogs Trust named after me. I think the work Dogs Trust does is fantastic and I’m happy to be able to lend my support in helping homeless dogs find new loving homes.

“I really hope Jonny’s kennel mates are all heading off to new homes soon.”

Chris Slight, rehoming centre manager at Dogs Trust Evesham, said: “We have dogs of all shapes at sizes at the centre and whilst they may not be selected as forwards, props or scrum-halves in a rugby line up, they all have one thing in common and that’s to find a winning home.

“We’re delighted to have the support of Jonny who was a big hit with his puppy namesake and we’re all hoping our other dogs can score a home to call their own very soon.”

Call the centre on 0300 303 0292 for more information on Evesham Dogs Trust.
