A COUNTY charity which supports people with brain injuries was handed a boost with a visit from the Princess Royal.

Staff and volunteers at Headway Worcestershire’s Worcester base on Gregory Mill Street welcomed Princess Anne on Monday (September 10) to officially open its new kitchen.

During her visit the Princess Royal also met some of those given a helping hand by the charity and provided a welcome boost to many she met.

She also unveiled a small plaque to commemorate her time with the charity.

Speaking after the visit Kathryn Davis, chief executive of Headway Worcestershire, thanked the Princess Royal and said her visit would make a huge difference to volunteers and staff.

“I think I speak for us all when I say meeting the Princess Royal was a real delight. She paid an interest in all of our members she met and was very supportive.
