We will never forget those babies left behind - county midwives

CARING midwives returned to the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch this week to lay a special plaque in the Baby Memorial Garden.

“There is a Baby Memorial Garden at the Alex for those babies who had passed away,” said midwife Megan Holley, from Evesham.

“We have always felt very strongly that we left those babies behind when we moved to Worcestershire Royal and we wanted them to know that they are not forgotten.

“So we felt it was appropriate to lay a small plaque in the garden as our way of saying ‘we know we are not here anymore but this is to let you know you are still in our hearts’.”

She paid a special tribute to local stonemason Kevin Porter of As Time Goes By for all his help and generosity in preparing the plaque.

“One of the midwives came up with a beautiful verse which just had to go on the stone and our deepest thanks go to Kevin who has been an absolutely crucial part of this.”
