Warriors reveal charity kit for Acorns encounter

Worcester Editorial 24th Feb, 2019   0

WARRIORS have unveiled the new Acorns charity matchday shirt which will be worn by the players in this afternoon’s Gallagher Premiership match against Leicester Tigers at Sixways and then go under the hammer.

The new shirt is a colourful addition to the 2018/19 shirt collection featuring a magenta, cyan and green graphical design. It includes the logo of Acorns who provide care for local life-limited and life-threatened children, young people and their families.

The limited-edition shirts will be available to purchase from the Sixways Store today with all proceeds going to Acorns.

Fans get their hands on the shirts worn by the players by requesting a silent auction form from the club. All proceeds raised will again go to Acorns.

Warriors hooker Niall Annett, who is the club’s Acorns Player Ambassador, said: “This is an annual fixture and something that the players are very passionate about.

“As a club we are very closely associated with Acorns which does incredible work in helping these children.

“The players regularly drop down to give them a hand and witness first-hand the fantastic work that they do.

“Going down to Acorns has been and will continue to be, a huge part of that for me. I can go down to Acorns off the back of having had a great or bad day’s training but nothing will make you feel better than seeing one of these kids’ beaming smiles amidst all the struggles and challenges they face.

“That is when you realise that sometimes we get as much from these kids as they do from us. Through these trying circumstances, the kids and their families show such amazing strength.

“We are looking forward to the charity matchday against Leicester and I’m sure everyone will get behind this great cause to help make a real difference to the lives of these children.”

Annett and other Warriors players will take part in a question-and-answer session with Acorns guests on Sunday in the Sixways Upper Charity Lounge. A one course meal of lasagne, garlic bread and salad can also be booked with proceeds going to Acorns.

There will also be bucket collections around the ground in support of Acorns.
