Warriors pause Ukraine donations until Monday after 'overwhelming' response

Worcester Editorial 10th Mar, 2022   0

WARRIORS have paused donations after being overwhelmed by items for refugees from the war in Ukraine which have arrived at Sixways over the last five days.

The club has received so many donations  that the Portcullis Bar and Gauntlet Bar in the East Stand, which have been turned into makeshift warehouses, are now full to capacity.

A team of volunteers is now sorting and packing the donations ahead of shipment to Ukraine and Poland but they now need time to complete that work before we receive more donations.

The club has now paused donations until Monday (March 14) for shipments to be prepared.

Donations will be accepted from spectators attending Saturday’s Gallagher Premiership against Exeter Chiefs at Sixways and those involved in the junior festival organised by Warriors Community Rugby team.

Anyone interested in helping staff in getting the donations ready for transport should e-mail: [email protected]

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has set up an appeal to provide aid to those fleeing the war in Ukraine.
