Worcester Warriors Ollie Wynn facing homelessness

WORCESTER Warriors scrum-half Ollie Wynn has taken to Twitter to explain how he is facing homelessness after not being paid by the club.

The 20-year-old, who signed for the club three years ago, has played six matches this season.

In his revelation, he spoke about how he wanted to follow in the footsteps of his rugby-playing father.

But he added: “Unfortunately, the last three weeks have taken a turn, and we haven’t been paid, and I have been made homeless recently.

“Fortunately for me, one of the older boys has put me up in their house, which I am so grateful for, which just shows how as a unit, how tight we are as boys, and hopefully, we can come through this together.”

In a statement released by the club on Wednesday, August 31, Worcester Warriors were pleased to confirm that funding was secured to fulfil players’ salaries for August.

Jason Whittingham, the club owner, said: “While we’ve been working to find the investment that will keep Worcester Warriors playing Premiership rugby at Sixways for years to come, we’ve also been focused on the important short-term task of making sure we can pay our loyal and valued staff and players this month.

“I’m pleased to say that we secured funds. We will fulfil the terms of our players’ contracts and pay them in full. This is, of course, crucial in retaining our talented squad for this season.

“It pains us to have to do it this way, but non-playing staff will receive 65% of their monthly salary tomorrow. We are completing on a solution which would see the remainder paid within five working days.”
