Warm weather gets splashpad opened early

Worcester Editorial 16th Apr, 2015 Updated: 19th Oct, 2016   0

THE POPULAR Splashpad in Gheluvelt Park is set to open seven days a week after an unseasonably warm April.

The move also follows the installation of automatic sensors which means it only operates when people stand on the activation pads.

David Sutton, service manager for a cleaner and greener city at Worcester City Council, said: “The Splashpad is usually only open at weekends in April, but the unseasonably warm weather has created strong customer demand so we’re delighted to have found a way to increase the number of days it’s available.

“We’ve recently finished installing new automatic sensors that mean the Splashpad only operates when activated by visitors standing on the activation pads during opening hours.

“This means we will not be wasting energy on colder days when no one is using the Splashpad. We therefore intend to open it seven days a week from this weekend onwards, with longer opening hours from May 1.”

The Splashpad will be open from 11am until 4pm throughout April.
