MEMORIES of Italia 90 were shared by football icon Paul Gascoigne on BBC Breakfast this morning (Wednesday) with the much-loved former England star joining the show from Evesham.

‘Gazza’ shared his memories of the tournament to promote a new documentary ‘Italia 90: Four Weeks That Changed the World’ airing on Sky Documentaries and NOW.

The playmaker was asked about his memories of the tournament by presenters Jon Kay and Sally Nugent via a video call.

“Yeah, I mean, considering four years before that I was on holiday watching the guys of 1986 and then four years later I’m in the World Cup,” he said.

“It brings back loads of memories – and great memories. You know, a lot of people try and take things away from us but they could never take away the 1990 World Cup.”

Hundreds took to social media to share their delight at the icon’s appearance but a number were left surprised to see Gazza in the Vale.

One viewer simply tweeted: “Gazza???? Evesham???” while another asked: “Since when did Gazza live in Evesham?”
